Palmistry

It's October and I often think of all things spooky, supernatural and otherworldly up until Halloween. I was thinking about Palmistry this week and how kooky it is. I love hands and I think it's fascinating to get intuitive impulses by looking at the lines of someone's hands. Palmistry is not my personal forte but I did study it briefly a long time ago. Palm readings are a fun quick thing to do with your friends and typically are pretty cheap. I've had my palm read about 3 times in my life and I'm pretty good at feeling out if a reader is good - so overall my experience with palmistry has been pretty good. One way to know to spot a good reader is; if the place or person feels really good, then go for it. If you are having any sort of hesitation, trust your gut and move on. The main thing is to not take it too seriously and realize that no matter what you hear, the future is always within your power. So, here is some art inspired by the many lines in our hand, fortune telling, all things mystical and the truth that "your future is really in your hands". Have you ever had your palm read? I'd love to hear your story in the comments below.

Autumn Equinox

Today is the first day of Autumn. I am always a little sad that Summer has ended but also love the fall colors, pumpkin patch visits, hot soups and cozy clothing that happens during the season. Today we've entered into the zodiac sign of Libra which is the symbol of the balanced scales. The Autumn Equinox is also a balance of equal sun time and equal night time. We descend in daylight and after the Winter Solstice (the shortest daylight of the year), we start to have ascend into longer days of light. In a few days, we're about to have a harvest moon on the evening of September 27. This year it's a Supermoon and a rare total lunar eclipse. The last time a total lunar eclipse coincided with a Supermoon was in 1982 and it won’t happen again until 2033. The total eclipse will start at 10:11 p.m. EDT (7:11 p.m. PDT) Sunday evening and will last one hour and 12 minutes. It will be visible across North and South America, Europe, Africa, and parts of West Asia and the eastern Pacific, NASA said. Hopefully we'll all have some clear skies to experience it!

As an homage to a long summer's end and trying to have one last bit of outdoor fun, I made this piece is called "Night Swimmers".

Be an Uplifter

Dear All, I can't tell how great it is to meet someone who is an uplifter. You know those kinds of people that allow people to stay as you are or expand as a result of their presence; so no one will ever be diminished as a result of any interaction with them? Do you know such people? Or are you an uplifter youself? If you're thinking.... oh my.... that sounds like a big job. Being an uplifter doesn't mean to put pressure on yourself to keep up a standard, it just means when you uplift, you are at your happiest. Reaching for the best feeling thought or thing to say, to raise the energy in yourself and others. Surround yourself with your happiness and in times when you are not, surround yourself with those who naturally lift you up. ❤

Rainbow Fluorite

I love this stone so much, not only for it's multi banded colors and beauty but its metaphysical properties as well. Multicolor or rainbow fluorite enhances flexibility and an open mind. Whatever color is most dominant in the fluorite has the strongest influence and meaning from that color. Excellent for reducing stress, inflammation and pain; rainbow fluorite is believed to help the nervous system and also promotes positive events, joy and creativity. Check this stone out if you can, it's a calming stone - even if you can get a single colored fluorite, it's great to work with. Enjoy finding your perfect specimen ❤

Get Into the Feeling

So you know how when you go on vacation - it feels so delicious, you were immersed in the unscheduled-ness of the day, the new sights, new people, new sensations, new food and new paths. Even the feeling of coming home feels so good. When you settle back into your routine, it can feel like a let down. Your brain was responding to all these new impressions, it was basically like being on a high. So, when you find yourself coming down from time away or getting caught up in rote - go back to that place in your memory bank and think of what it feels like to be on a holiday. When you stay in that feeling, you can feel like your on vacation right now. If you don't have time off from work, do things like take your work to the park or a coffee shop. If you can't get out of your work space, convince others to share in the fun by sharing a good lunch together, telling some stories or throw a ball around to each other from your desks. Be creative! In your time off, get an ice cream, take a walk with someone special, lounge in your house or backyard and read a book. But do it like your pretending you're on vacation. Even if it's just for a short time, do it. Get into the feeling of it.

We saw all these animals in such spontaneous moments and I purposefully wrote them down so I would draw them later when I got home. I got away from my desk and all my fancy tools, grabbed my pencil and dove into my sketchbook. I got into drawing every single animal I wrote down and allowed in the feeling of time expansion - just like when I travel.

❤ Enjoy!
