Contentment

This week I wanted to talk about contentment. I'm sure you felt it before - that feeling where everything is right where it supposed to be, you're right where you're supposed to be. You don't have to be on a tropical island or have things perfect to achieve this. It's that feeling that all is good and nothing has to change to feel any better. Don't you just love that feeling? The flip side of contentment is usually complaining. You know that feeling - where you're just grumbling, griping, vocalizing or just simply feeling all the negativity about things you usually can't control. If you're feeling like you've just got to unload on someone or you'll explode, think about it before you do it. No one likes to hear complaining. And why? It's usually a one way street and the other person is just a sounding board who gets so worn down from it, they jump on that complaining level with you. There is nothing wrong with negative thoughts - they're just clarifying what you don't like, so you know what you do like. If you want to share something that's going on, there has to be some intent and resolution or the conversation serves nobody.

Some people are so used to not feeling good and complaining has become a socially acceptable way of venting or releasing negative thoughts. The reason people feel they need to vent is because it feels big and it's what they're focusing on. If they're focusing on all the crap stuff going on, feeling good just seems further and further away. And complaining begins to feel more normal. For instance, getting stuck in traffic or crappy drivers - that can really bring up some vocal gripes without even realizing it. There are so many other things to focus on than getting frustrated over something you can't control. It takes practice but little by little, if you just reach for the best thought you can find about the active subject, is how you can shift into contentment. By reaching for the best of it, instead of the worst of it. If you beat the drum of what's good about something, it's just as infectious as beating the drum of what's crappy about something.

Today's stone is Black Tourmaline. If you need a little help with negativity, this is a great stone. It's known for helping with negativity but also keeps complainers at bay if you need help with that side of it too.

Stay content my friends ❤

Lining Up with Your Choices

This week I wanted to talk about indecision. The question "should I or shouldn't I" couldn't feel more uncomfortable. I think as humans, we put so much weight on our choices that we end up second guessing ourselves. Most of the time, the first choice we think of is the right one. And it never means the one you didn't choose was bad, it's more about lining up your energy with your choice. By this I mean, putting your thoughts towards what you choose and empowering your decision is really what it's all about. Whatever you decide - find the delight and revel in the choice you made. Life is all about choices and how beautiful is that? Sometimes the choices can feel really big and life changing. Fear of making the wrong choice usually comes up. The most important thing to remember is whatever comes up first, if it feels good now, don't labor over it and just line up with it. It's that laboring, contradictory energy that makes any choice so hard. It's as simple as just allowing and being at peace with whatever you decide.

Happy Wednesday!

Dreaming Big

This week I wanted to talk about dreaming big. When you get an idea that seems so big, so idealistic that it's almost out of reach; one of two things happen... you either focus your intention and eventually make it happen; or you or others talk yourself out of it. Big dreams are exactly that - they are sometimes so big, so lofty that you can't wrap your mind around how to get there. The biggest part I've learned is to just keep dreaming. Whether it's creatively visualizing, meditations, sketching or writing it down... just do that. Don't worry about "how" to get there. It's all in the focus, that the ideas of the next step unfold when they're supposed to unfold. If every dream came to you in full force with all the paths and instructions all laid out, where would the fun be? So remember, if you've got something big cooking up in your mind; don't make it so big. By that I mean, dream big but not make it so important that you get lost in the details of how. Be easy on yourself. Because in that ease comes the letting go. And in the letting go comes the next idea and the next and the next. The gradual unfolding will feel as easy as floating down a river.

Everything is Unfolding Perfectly

Do you ever feel like you have a ton to do? Like your head is spinning round and round from all the details, plans, lists, demands...? If you have an event to prepare for, a big job to do, it's so easy to get caught up in wanting everything perfect. But what is perfect? We often strive for this so called perfection but find ourselves talking about how perfection doesn't even exist. Perfection does exist and it's all relative. In the dictionary it states "having all the required or desirable elements, qualities or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be". I wanted emphasis "as good as it is possible to be" because perfection, we think, is based on what we only see in reality. But it's far more than that - it's perceptual, abstract and ultimately open for interpretation. If something doesn't come out exactly as you envision, recognize it's the Universe' way of showing you perfection from a different perspective. Perfection does exist - it exists within the peace and freedom you feel when you let go and allow. I've been super busy getting ready for my debut at Surtex this upcoming week. In my process, there were certainly bumps as well as successes. It was a challenge but also really good practice trusting that the bumps will smooth out. Everything is unfolding perfectly. And it is for you too.

All the time in the world

So I'm getting ready for a big show in mid May and I'm looking through a lot of my archives right now. I found this artwork and it reminded me of peace. When I feel peace, I feel like I have all the time in the world. Everything feels easy and fun. Remembering those times in your life can be refreshing mental breaks during times of having too much to do and feeling like there's not enough time. The biggest thing to trust is that there really is more than enough time to do all the things we want to do. I feel the key to nipping the overwhelm in the bud is to know that everything is happening in the perfect time. There's no right time or wrong time. When you feel the impulse, you'll know what to do and when to do it. Trusting this helps with feelings of procrastination. Of course there are practical ways to lighten your load like dropping projects, hiring someone to help or organizing yourself. The anxiousness around time is perceptual and mostly in our minds. When you trust that things are happening the way they need to be, it helps the stress slip away.

So remember the ease and that time is on your side.
